RAILDATE - your free weekly guide to what's happening, what's new and what's on
CHANGES TO YAHOO - UPDATE
I don't think I'll be saying much more on this topic, unless something major happens again.
Having read a lot of feedback from readers, I'm satisfied that there is something in the way
that Yahoo handles the emails it sends out that is causing problems for some of you.
Ironically, the problems seem to be worse for people who use Yahoo for their email. If you are
still receiving emails without working links, your best plan would be to go to the group's home
page on Yahoo, where you should find all the links working:

From our Romania correspondent - Laurie Webb
The UK Supporters group of the Sibiu-Agnita Railway recently made their annual pilgrimage to
Romania and on Saturday 21st they provided invaluable muscle power to help three Romanian
volunteers and I to replace a broken rail. This is my video/stills compilation of the day,
which turned out to be the wettest day we've had in the area for months! A suitable length of
rail was salvaged from a siding in Cornatel station yard and transported to the repair site
about 5kms down the line using our Trabant powered draisine and two trailers. Once on site the
broken rail was removed and the replacement bolted in place. After completion we tested the
repair by continuing on the draisne and trailers to Hosman where the track is currently buried
under a road crossing. As a result of the repair we now have an uninterrupted run of 7kms
along the Hartibaciu valley from Cornatel, where the track is also buried under a road
crossing. My rescue dog, Sunny, was with me and I think she enjoyed the ride in spite of the
rain!

The "Friends of the Mocanita" and our SARUK Supporters were told at a meeting in Cornatel that
we will no longer be charged rent for the line, which is owned by Sibiu County, on condition
that we continue to restore/maintain it. This will be a great help for the SAR finances as the
annual rent took a sizeable amount out of our funds. In addition, the mayors of the five
communities through which the line passes and a couple of high-ups from Sibiu County Council
are now part of a committee which is very keen to see the line operating again and are giving
the "Friends" plenty of encouragement and support.
